BuildBPS Joint Site Council Meeting – April 4th
This Tuesday, April 4th, Instructional Superintendent Mary Driscoll will be holding a meeting at the Irving from 6:00-7:30pm to discuss the findings from BuildBPS with Site Councils from several schools (including the Bates). Mary, along with staff from BPS Facilities, will explain the BuildBPS facilities report for our school site council. In addition to covering the building reports she will explain the plan for community engagement that will happen later in the Spring. All are welcome to come and learn.
Grade 3-5 Families: MCAS Starts This Week!
MCAS season is upon us! Beginning this week, students will start taking the ELA MCAS. Grades 3 & 5 will take the MCAS April 5-7 and Grade 4 will take the MCAS April 10-12. All testing will begin at 10:00am and students may not enter the testing rooms if they arrive after that. Late students will have to take the MCAS at a later time separate from their class. You will find the full schedule for ELA testing below. Math testing will take place in May and we will share those dates at a later time. Students who are absent will take the assessment during planned makeup times.
Please reach out with questions and thank you for making sure students are present and on time during MCAS testing.

Principal Search Update
The principal screening committee has selected candidates for interview and will begin conducting interviews this week.
School Site/Parent Council – April 12th
At our next SPC/SSC meeting, we will engage in final planning for Fox Fest and get an update from the principal screening committee. The meeting will be from 5:30-7:00pm with free dinner and childcare provided.

We are in the early stages of planning for our annual Fox Fest. For families new to the Bates, Fox Fest is our annual fundraising event held in the spring. If you are interested in helping solicit donations for our silent and live auctions, please contact Travis Marshall, K2 Parent and Fox Fest Chair, at travis.marshall@gmail.com. Last year we raised over $5,000 dollars in one night and hope to do even better this year!
School Garden Grant

Please vote daily until April 19. We are a small school so we need everyone voting every day in order to make it out of the voting phase into the judging phase. If we pass through to the judging phase, we have an excellent chance of being chosen, so spread the word and get out the vote!
